چکیده

The development of scaffolds for tissue-engineered growth the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a promising approach to overcome limitations current solutions. This work proposes novel biodegradable and biocompatible matching mechanical characteristics native human ligament. Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLA) reinforced with graphite nano-platelets (PLA+EG) as received, chemically functionalized (PLA+f-EG), or decorated silver nanoparticles [PLA+((f-EG)+Ag)], were fabricated by conventional braiding using 3D-printing technology. dimensions both braided 3D-printed finely controlled. results showed that exhibited high porosity (>60%), pore interconnectivity, size suitable tissue ingrowth, no relevant differences between PLA composite scaffolds. wet state dynamic analysis at 37 °C revealed an increase in storage modulus constructs, compared neat Either presented values similar those found soft tissues. tailorable design structures, well reproducibility, speed, simplicity allowed obtain two different engineering.

Hydroxyapatite scaffolds for bone tissue engineering made by 3D printing.

Nowadays, there is a significant need for synthetic bone replacement materials used in bone tissue engineering (BTE). Rapid prototyping and especially 3D printing is a suitable technique to create custom implants based on medical data sets. 3D printing allows to fabricate scaffolds based on Hydroxyapatite with complex internal structures and high resolution. To determine the in vitro behaviour ...

Laser printing of cells into 3D scaffolds.

One of the most promising approaches in tissue engineering is the application of 3D scaffolds, which provide cell support and guidance in the initial tissue formation stage. The porosity of the scaffold and internal pore organization influence cell migration and play a major role in its biodegradation dynamics, nutrient diffusion and mechanical stability. In order to control cell migration and ...

3D-printing of lightweight cellular composites.

A new epoxy-based ink is reported, which enables 3D printing of lightweight cellular composites with controlled alignment of multiscale, high-aspectratio fiber reinforcement to create hierarchical structures inspired by balsa wood. Young's modulus values up to 10 times higher than existing commercially available 3D-printed polymers are attainable, while comparable strength values are maintained.

Biomimetic poly(lactide) based fibrous scaffolds for ligament tissue engineering.

The aim of this study was to fabricate a fibrous scaffold that closely resembled the micro-structural architecture and mechanical properties of collagen fibres found in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). To achieve this aim, fibrous scaffolds were made by electrospinning L-lactide based polymers. L-Lactide was chosen primarily due to its demonstrated biocompatibility, biodegradability and hi...
